Essential Oils
There are many recipes that will help your sunburn to heal. This is a spray that I like to use when I have been outside playing all day. It helps to heal my skin quickly, and smells great!
5 drops frankincense oil
5 drops sandalwood oil
5 drops lavender oil
1 teaspoon witch hazel
2 ounces water
Combine all the ingredients into a spray bottle. Shake well before every use. Lightly spray the affected area and allow to air dry. Repeat 3 times daily. Store in a cool area for up to 6 months.
Ayurvedic Treatment
Ayurveda medicine is the oldest known form of medicine on Earth. It has over 5000 years of documented use. The treatments are very simple, down to Earth, and use common household ingredients. Try this sunburn remedy for your pain relief and healing.
1 cucumber
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Peel and smash the cucumber into paste. Discard peels. With a whisk, mix the lemon juice into the pureed cucumber. Apply past to the sunburn and leave on as long as possible, or until it dries and flakes off. Reapply every morning. Discard any remainder.
Home Remedies
This type of remedy has been passed down from generation to generation. Try this easy to use treatment to turn that red to tan! These household products can be used to bring relief instantly and effectively. Use any or all of these various treatments for healing.
1 cup milk
or
1/4 cup aloe vera
or
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
or
2 tablespoons baking soda
You can apply the milk and the aloe vera directly to the skin and let dry on skin. The soothing, healing effect is immediate. You can add the apple cider vinegar or the baking soda to a cool bath, or to a bowl of cool water and apply to the burned area with a cloth.
Herbal Remedy
Herbs have been used for healing for as long as man has walked the Earth. Instead of drinking your mint tea, apply it to your skin!
1 tablespoon peppermint leaves
1 cup water
Bring the water to a boil and remove from heat. Add the peppermint leaves and cover. Allow to steep for 10 minutes. Remove lid and cool completely. A couple of ice cubes may be added to speed up cooling process. When completely cooled, dip soft cloth into the mixture and lay on areas sunburned. Allow to air dry. Repeat 3 times daily. Peppermint is anti-inflammatory and will speed up healing quickly.
That's It
So These types of recipes are what we turn to in our family for minor complaints and ailments. You can treat a wide variety of concerns in your own home, easily and affordably with household products. I love making my own home remedies, and I also make them for everyone that comes by.
Last night I was told that I was known as the "witch of Saltillo!" I said, "I'm not a witch! I love Jesus!" And felt very defensive. But I thought about it and, well, I guess to people who don't ever use home remedies, it may seem like some sort of magic, spells or potions. But seriously, when did a rub of lavender and tea tree for a burn ever magically heal anyone? It's not magic, sorcery or incantations. It's just science. But if everyone here thinks I'm a powerful witch, lol, then don't mess with me! I might turn you into one of those bales of hay!
I am working on a book just like this page. It has several types of recipes for each complaint. It's my biggest project to date. Very interesting to work on. I am in love with it.
Much healing to you,
